She came to Stony Brook from NYU Winthrop Hospital, where she served as Patient Experience Officer and implemented organization-wide patient experience design and strategy for the hospital, physician practices, and outpatient and ambulatory services. During her tenure there, she redesigned the operations of the patient relations department, launched a hospital concierge program and implemented an enhanced patient rounding model designed to improve performance and increased Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) metrics. Prior to that, she was the Director of Patient Experience at St. Francis Hospital in Roslyn.

She serves as a hospitalist on the inpatient teaching service, Associate Program Director for the Geriatric Medicine Fellowship, and Core Faculty for the Internal Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Schachter has been affiliated with Stony Brook University Hospital for over a decade, contributing to both patient care and medical education.
